Tasters Review:

I think this is a great way to start your day if you are short on time or on-the-go!  This is a bold and burly black tea in a bag!  It’s pretty strong, fairly malty, rich and robust!  It has hints of that bakey or crusty type tea that I so much love, too!

Wild Forest Black Tea is a winner in my book!  And I really like that Choice Organic Teas support the Jane Goodall Institute!

Sunset in Seattle Tea from Market Spice

Tea Type: Herba;

Where To Buy: Market Spice

Product Description:

One of our sweetest and most popular herbal teas, Sunset in Seattle is a blend utilizing a myriad of herbs that are soothing and mellow. Ingredients: Rosehips, Vanilla, Chamomile, Spearmint, Raspberry, Lemon Grass, Hyssop and herbs. Contains no sugar and is caffeine free.

Tasters Review:

Sunset in Seattle Tea from Market Spice looked much like the picture above  thru the see-thru bag it came in but there was white powder heavily throughout the blend.  For me not knowing too much about this tisane before trying it I was confused by the powder ingredient but quickly released it was the vanilla within the mix.
The vanilla ‘powder’ is powerful and very nice smelling.  The overall aroma consists of Chamomile, Mint, and Vanilla.  The color post-infusion is a cloudy gray-orange-yellow type color.  The taste is minty but floral…Herbally yet smooth…lemony yet vanilla….this is odd but lovely.  It’s interesting and surprising!  I ended up REALLY liking this one!  The aftertaste is minty yet sweet! Opposites completely attract in this case…and it makes me grin from ear to ear!

I especially liked the vanilla and minty notes!

The color of this once ‘mixed’ is that of a Yellowish-Grayish-Light Brown.

It smells a little like Cappuccino and a little like Vanilla…neither scent is very strong tho.

The taste, well, you know…I was skeptical on this one…but…it DOES taste like Cappuccino!!!!   I was shocked!   And the vanilla is noticeable!  I really do feel like I am drinking an ICED Vanilla Cappuccino! There’s no doubt about it!

What an interesting green tea based product and flavor!  Another winner from our friends at GreenTeaHP/Green Tea Pros!!!

Mao Feng Green Tea from TeaVert

Tea Type: Green Tea

Where To Buy: TeaVert

Product Description:

A lot of famous teas come from the region in China called The Golden Triangle, which was the source of many Imperial Tribute Teas or in modern days called “famous teas”.

Tribute Teas were chosen by the Emperor of the last four dynasties for remarkable taste and qualities. The teas were exclusively available only for royal tastes and sometimes even were used as tax payment. If any of the Tribute teas that did not satisfy the royal taste, they would be given to court officials, who could drink the tea or sell it illegally for profit.

In Chinese, “Mao” means fluffy, and “Feng” means mountain peaks. Our organic Mao Feng grows in the mountains of central Zhejiang province and is harvested only in early spring from leaves picked at the right moment and carefully processed. The highest grades use only one bud and the first leaf. Each day the leaves will be different, and they produce a slightly different batch of tea.

The leaf has a pleasantly sweet, mildly fragrant aroma, with a hint of apricot.

The brew in the cup usually infuses to a very pale yellow with a hint of green.

The taste is mellow and sweet with a nice hint of subtle grassiness.

Mao Feng Tea drinkers say that the first brewing is fragrant, the second brewing is sweet, and the third brewing is strong. The tea tastes clean and refreshing, and lasts a long time on the tongue.

Like a great wine, it also has to be a good year.
Preparation

Heat water to 185-195 F, steep 3 minutes

Tasters Review:

First I want to say HAPPY ST PATRICK’S DAY from the SororiTEA Sisters!  You know SororiTEA Sisters find ANY reason to drink…TEA, that is…so St. Patrick’s Day is yet ANOTHER reason to “drink up”!

My posts today will feature GREEN Teas.  My first post for today is Mao Feng Green Tea from TeaVert!

I really enjoyed this tea!  It’s a mellow-sweet, slightly buttery yet vegetable-esque and subtle grassiness type taste all wrapped-up into one with a grassy/dried apricot aftertaste.

In short, it’s a darn good Green!  I’m VERY impressed with TeaVert’s Selection and am looking forward to sampling and reviewing more of their teas!

Golden Monkey from White August Tea Company

Tea Type: Black Tea

Where To Buy: White August Tea Company

Product Description:

This stunning Chinese black tea is among the finest in the world. Each spring the tea leaves are carefully plucked of only one leaf and one bud, resembling a monkey claw. The beautiful twisted golden leaves yield a full bodied tea with a soft apricot finish. 50g bag only.

Tasters Review:

This is a mighty fine Golden Monkey! It didn’t disappoint!  This has the flavor you would expect from a Golden Monkey as well as a semi-chewy with the slightest bit of smoke hint that lingers on to the aftertaste!

Plain, Simple, and Straight to the point…I haven’t found a tea from White August Tea Company that I haven’t liked!  What a great tea from a great company!

Chrysanthemum Tuocha from The Tao of Tea

Tea Type: Pu-erh

Where To Buy: The Tao of Tea

Product Description:
(I was unable to locate a product description but wanted to share with you a little something I found in Tao of Tea’s ABOUT US Section on their website)

Love for Tea
I started The Tao of Tea with a love for the leaf. While travelling with my family in the Himalayan mountains of India in 1997, I dreamed about the possibilities that tea offered. For me, it started a journey into the essence that it exudes and the cultures it connects. The dream evolved into a business and the love grew even more. My travels to the source, friendships with tea people and living with wellness have been very rewarding. Over the years, I have been fortunate to be joined with people that share a similar love and philosophy about tea. Our commonality is based on recognizing the purity in the leaf, the surroundings it grows in and the people who nurture it. It has become the purpose of our company.

Veerinder Chawla

Tasters Review:

I’ve had good luck with The Tao of Tea’s Pu-erhs so far and thought I would share my findings on their Chrysanthemum Tuocha today!

The 1st infusion is somewhat light in color and smells like a lighter-scented pu-erh.  It tastes like a lighter black plain tea.

The 2nd infusion is darker in color and in aroma.  It smells like pu-erh but with a little floral aroma as well.  It tastes quite good…both hot and cold. It tastes like a medium flavored black tea with a slight sweet-floral taste.

The 3rd infusion is tremendously dark and  smells more like your stereotypical pu-erh.  It’s bolder in flavor and almost coffee-like…in taste.

As for the 4th infusion it was still very dark in color and in flavor.  It tastes more pu-erhy now and  more like a muddy/earthy/wormy type.

Overall I did enjoy this tuocha and have found most if not all of the Tao of Tea TEAs I have tried to be very tasty and intriguing!

It perfectly opened/bloomed the first time around without any imperfections whatso-ever and smelled of blueberry and peaches and that’s on top of the floral aroma…how awesome is that for a blooming tea!!??

I could taste the blueberry, peach, and flowers and it’s very yummy!

I tried a 2nd infusion on this and it was still very tasty!  The only notable difference was the 2nd infusion was more floral.  It was still an overall wonderful flavor tho!

This is probably one of my favorite blooming teas or flowering teas I have tried  to date!  This is VERY special!

Rogue Wave from White August Tea Company

Tea Type: Green Tea

Where To Buy: White August Tea Company

Product Description:

Bold Japanese sencha tea, creatively entwined with toasted coconut and ginger to create a cone of a kind experience.

Tasters Review:

The aroma of Rogue Wave from The White August Tea Company before and while infusing reminds me of coconut cookies! It’s a wonderful smell, indeed!

The Green Tea is a powerful one and a tad on the grassier side of things but the coconut brings this to a whole new level!  It’s sweet and tropical and nearly cookie-like it’s a unique taste and glad White August Tea has this one available!

In addition, the ginger is noticeable but very nicely done.  It meshes well with the coconut and green tea!  This is a bold brew and I like it!  This is very tasty both hot and cold!

Japanese Quince Green Tea from Byron Bay Tea Company

Tea Type: Green Tea

Where To Buy: Byron Bay Tea Company

Product Description:

A brightly-coloured infusion, with jade green undertones, this exotic blend balances the sweetness of quince with a delicate base of Japanese green tea. Green tea is prized for its antioxidant constituency and subsequent benefits to health (particularly digestion). The result is a rejuvenating, aromatic and refreshingly palatable tea that can be enjoyed any time of the day.

Tasters Review:

I can’t say as I have had too many or any Quince flavored teas YET but after tasting this one from Byron Bay Tea Company I surely want to try more!

The sweet green tea taste is delightful – the quince was MADE for this tea and it’s juicy but not tart in the slightest – and the Jasmine isn’t over the top or even that strong at all but gives it an overall ‘pretty’ factor that completes the cup.

The Quince is the key and it is good!  Overall, it’s a gentle, fruity, sweet, yet pretty flavored green but I like this!   I really like this!

Bountiful Black Tea from Tea Addiction

Tea Type: Black Tea & Rooibos Blend

Where To Buy: Tea Addiction

Product Description:

Ingredients: Black tea, rooibos, cacao nibs, coconut, apple, and vanilla flavoring. A unique blend of coconut scented black tea, smooth rooibos, cacao nibs, vanilla, and apple make Bountiful Black most pleasing to the palate.

The flavor is rich and sumptuous. Trust us when we say you’ll enjoy every delightful sip.

Tea Fact: Because Bountiful Black contains black tea, it also has caffeine. However, if you like the flavor of both black and rooibos tea you’re going to love these two blended together.

Tasters Review:

First I want to say that the name of this company is pure genius!  With the 2nd most popular (only to water) beverage world-wide being tea – we all know there are TEA ADDICTS out there…and two of them are right here at SororiTEA Sisters!

Bountiful Black Tea from Tea Addiction is nice and sweet and smooth and dessert like!  The Chocolate isn’t overly noticeable but this is darned tasty!

The Coconut and Vanilla as well as the apple bits seems to play more of a part here – but I think this tea is just DANDY!

Float My Boat from White August Tea Company

Tea Type: Rooibos Tea

Where To Buy:
White August Tea Company

Product Description:

For the free spirited woman on-the-go, these teas we designed with our founders alter ego in mind, and packaged in a stylish tin with T-sacs.

Red, white and blue, oh how I love you. Hats off to our all American blend of Pomegranates, coconuts, blueberries and yummy rooibos. No caffeine so you can lull yourself to sleep with the ocean waves. 60g Tin.

Tasters Review:

“What Ever Floats Your Boat” has always been one of my favorite cliches so when I saw the name of this Rooibos I HAD to try it!  Then when I saw the “Free Spirited Woman On The Go” description I knew it was for me!  “But Wait!  There’s More!”  THEN when I saw the ingredients I was delighted and REALLY couldn’t wait to try it!  It sounded so plump and juicy and mouth-watering!

When I opened the pouch it not only lived up to the aroma – it lived up to the name!

This is quite aromatic!

It’s a very colorful dry mix!

Post infusion – the coconut gives it a slight oily texture on the top but the actual color of the tisane is a vibrant toned down brown-orange…very nice!

It has a nice strong Rooibos flavor but the blueberry and pom join hands in harmony and the coconut flavor does give it a semi-tropical yet milky-smooth flavor, too!

This is another good one from White August Tea Company and a very tasty flavored rooibos!

Tasters Review:

Gen Mai?  Lemongrass?  Chai?  I can’t say as I would have thought about putting all of this together but I am sure glad that Yogic Chai did because it’s pretty darned awesome!

The Genmaicha is the perfect ‘strength’ for me and of really good quality.  The Cardamom, Cinnamon, Cloves, Ginger are all quite subtle and I’m completely fine with that.  There are little popped rice that are included in this blend of flavors and I think that is very nice!  It makes me smile, actually!  The Lemongrass is a wonderful touch!

Tasters Review:

Here at SororiTEA Sisters we have reviewed a handful of the GreenTeaHP/Green Tea Pros Products and I must say they continue to amaze us for different reasons!  One of those reasons, for me at least, is that their flavors actually DO smell and taste completely different that their other flavors!  I have had other ‘products’ from other companies who claim they have all these different flavors, but to me, they all seem to taste the same or at the very most taste very similar!  But NOT at GreenTeaHP/Green Tea Pros!  They do it right!  Each of their MANY flavors has their own personality, aroma, taste, and mission!  And I LOVE that!

As for their Raspberry Cream…I give it a sparkling review!

It has a Raspberry Mocha type taste to it that I really like!  It smells like Raspberry…very pleasant!  The “mocha” taste I will chalk up to being the “cream” part of it.  It gives you a kick at the beginning of the sip and a smoother finish.  It has a lighter and semi-smooth aftertaste that I also appreciate!

Another good product from our friends at GreenTeaHP/Green Tea Pros!

Creme Brulee from Tea Oh

Tea Type: Rooibos

Where To Buy: Tea Oh

Product Description:

A sweet symphony of toffee and caramel flavours make this a nice after dinner treat.

Tasters Review:

Years ago I had a candle business on the side.  By that I mean I resold candles…I didn’t make or blend them myself but I was constantly smelling candles looking for the most powerful aroma with closest possible “smell-match” to the description.  This was one of those flavors that was hard to match – at least in candles, that is.  I was able to find all sorts of Creme Brulee Scented Candles but they all smelled different…completely different!  I ended up finding a local crafter nearby that got the smell “Right On”.  That’s what the aroma of this flavored Rooibos reminded me of…that perfectly scented Creme Brulee Candle I found years ago!

Since then I have moved on to other things and no longer sell candles but one thing that stuck with me was smelling everything!  And I mean EVERYTHING!  My mother laughs at me because if we go to the market I smell the fresh made bread…I still smell candles when I come across them…I smell ALL my teas (that’s why I almost always include the aroma of them in my reviews)…and now that we are selling another line of natural foods – I have been smelling everything that is available in our catalog!

Having said all that…the aroma of this Creme Brulee from Tea Oh is amazing!  It’s Creme Brulee to the fullest extent!

The taste is a little lighter than I thought it would be…more subtle.  It’s like this…you have your Rooibos and then you have your flavoring…so…in short, it’s a good flavored rooibos but you can still taste the rooibos.

I really did enjoy my cuppa but the aroma was what got me with this one!  And it sure did stir up some memories!  Thanks Tea Oh!  Nicely Done!

Signature Positiv-A-Tea Blend from Positiv-A-Tea

Tea Type: Herbal

Where To Buy: Positiv-A-Tea

Product Description:

100% Organic
Hand-Blended
USDA Approved
Naturally Decaffeinated

Ingredients:
Hibiscus, Lemon Balm, Rose Petals,
Orange Peel, Cinnamon, Lavender

Tasters Review:

I’m not going to lie…when I was finished infusing this the color of it frightened me!  I was also worried about the Hibiscus – many of you know my trials and tribulations with that ingredient…BUT…

This IS pretty pleasant! I’ve VERY shocked and surprised that the level of hibiscus is what it is!  As it cooled – I could taste more tartiness so I will drink this HOT!  If you are after the fruitier or tartier flavor you might like it cooler.   The Lemon Balm follows it as far as ingredients that pop out a little more than the others but the one that lingers is the Lavender and it’s a pretty lavender as well as a little chewy…if you can picture that!!   The rose and Orange are about equal in taste-intensity and that is subtle.

This is pretty and sassy and different all in one…I think it’s a neat blend and tastes alright!  If you are looking for a positive blend and something that is positively unique…give this one a whirl!
