Bountiful Black Tea from Tea Addiction

Tea Type: Black Tea & Rooibos Blend

Where To Buy: Tea Addiction

Product Description:

Ingredients: Black tea, rooibos, cacao nibs, coconut, apple, and vanilla flavoring. A unique blend of coconut scented black tea, smooth rooibos, cacao nibs, vanilla, and apple make Bountiful Black most pleasing to the palate.

The flavor is rich and sumptuous. Trust us when we say you’ll enjoy every delightful sip.

Tea Fact: Because Bountiful Black contains black tea, it also has caffeine. However, if you like the flavor of both black and rooibos tea you’re going to love these two blended together.

Tasters Review:

First I want to say that the name of this company is pure genius!  With the 2nd most popular (only to water) beverage world-wide being tea – we all know there are TEA ADDICTS out there…and two of them are right here at SororiTEA Sisters!

Bountiful Black Tea from Tea Addiction is nice and sweet and smooth and dessert like!  The Chocolate isn’t overly noticeable but this is darned tasty!

The Coconut and Vanilla as well as the apple bits seems to play more of a part here – but I think this tea is just DANDY!

Majestic Darjeeling from mhai diva

Tea Type: Black Tea

Where To Buy: mhai diva

Product Description:

There isn’t much for product description on their website about this individual tea but here is some general info about their company…

Mhaidiva Tea

In general: the highest grown tea offers the best quality. Mhaidiva is premium quality tea from the highlands of Sri Lanka (Ceylon). In particular Nuwara-Eliya, known as the ‘champagne’ area of original Ceylon tea.
After plucking, the green tea leaves of Mhaidiva are immediately processed and freshly packed in Sri Lanka. We only pluck the tea leaf and bud. The green tea leaves are then dried and smoothly rolled (not cut) to achieve our premium quality tea. Our tea has a bright colour and infuses perfectly every time.
The result: a refined tea with great flavour and lovely after taste.

This Majestic Darjeeling from mhai diva is a mighty fine and good old stand-by Darjeeling in a bag!  It’s pretty tasty!  It’s fairly simple but good!
We all need a little more of that in our lives, don’t we?

Honey Orchid Black Tea from Golden Moon Tea

Tea Type: Black Tea

Where To Buy: Golden Moon Tea

Product Description:

One of the best teas we have tasted. It is so rare that it is actually its own varietal without any flavorings or scenting. The honey flavor literally explodes on your front palate with a subtle finish of fresh orchids.

Tasters Review:

Marcus over at Golden Moon Tea contacted us recently to try their new and improved Honey Orchid and I will say they NAILED IT!  LiberTEAs previously reviewed this and it’s one of the very few 100’s I’ve seen her rate on her steepster log!  I agree with her saying this is pretty awesome – that’s for sure!

The aroma of the dry leaves smell like a honey-buttered whole wheat bagel I often have from my local coffee shop here.

The color of the liquor after infusing is quite light for a black!   It’s surprising! BUT…it’s NOT light on flavor!

I guess the honey comparison comes into play because it IS smooth like honey and it has that natural sweetness of REAL honey…not that fake stuff! I really like the smoothness of this.

There is a chewiness to this tea as well…I  REALLY like that little characteristic!

I would say the Orchid/floral connection would be just as you move the sip from the front of your mouth to the back of your mouth right before it ‘goes down the trap’…so to speak!  The floral notes are subtle and refreshing in a way I have never tasted before!

As this cools it seems to become juicer – I think this is an interesting touch – as well!

This tea is more complex than I was expecting and I LOVE that!

Another thing I noticed with this tea is that the leaves are screaming for a 2nd infusion…here is what I found with the 2nd infusion…

This time around it’s still sweet and silky-smooth but more woodsy but in a good way. It’s smells chewier but tastes a little less chewier.

YUMMO!

My favorite Golden Moon Tea thus far!  WOW!

A Girls Best Friend from White August Tea Company

Tea Type: Black Tea

Where To Buy: White August Tea Company

Product Description:
You’ll be distracted by this bright and shiny Tea. A luxurious strand of Sri Lankan black tea, faceted with blueberries, elderberries and hibiscus gems.

Tasters Review:

First…I would like to say HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY from SororiTEA Sisters!

“Diamonds are a girl’s best friend.”

Well, I can honestly say they aren’t THIS GIRLS BFF!  I would much rather have tea!  That’s why I thought this was a perfect tea to review today!

I really LOVE White August Tea Company’s Creative Tea Names and Descriptions!  Most of which are trademarked, I might add!

This one lives up to it’s name!  I really enjoyed it…A LOT!

A Girls’ Best Friend Tea from White August Tea Company  smells wonderful! It’s filled with various plump berries and black tea!  The black tea is pretty strong in flavor and I like that!  The flavor of the berries is lovely too!  It’s slightly tart but more importantly juicy!  AND…ya know what!?  The Hibiscus is subtle and more than tolerable!   This surprisingly has a velvety yet floral finish. YUM.

Companies who over-do hibiscus in their blends need to take some notes from White August Tea Company!  They do it right!  Just enough to tie in and play nice with the other flavors!  This is really something special…a good tea to give as a gift or to sip with friends!  A pure delight!

Spice With Black Tea from Chai Wallah

Tea Type: Chai
(Black Tea Base)

Where To Buy: Chai Wallah

Product Description:

Fair Trade Organic Rembeng Estate Assam tea is the perfect match for our organic chai spice. A robust full-bodied CTC tea favored by chai drinkers in India for its strong malty taste even when blended and boiled with chai spice, milk and sugar. Street chai wallahs tend to use the less expensive fannings or dust tea when making chai as they get a better return on their endeavors.

Tasters Review:

If you are looking for a mighty strong Chai – give this one a go-around!  It’ll put hair on your chest! (As my Grandfather used to say). And if it’s not strong enough as-is this wonderful company has SPICE ONLY options available and you can add as much additional spice as you want!  BUT…this is a mighty strong chai on it’s own tho!

Spice With Black Tea from Chai Wallah has a DARK Brown almost coffee brown-on the verge of-black look to it after infusing.  The spices are in full force!  I can taste the Black Pepper first then the Cardamom followed by the cloves, ginger and the Cinnamon isn’t as strong as the other ingredients.

This one I may try additives with…on future attempts.  As many of you know I drink all of my teas plain – even Chai.  I like to taste the natural “as-is” flavors without any interruptions.  But after I do know what the natural taste tastes like I’m not opposed to experimenting!
Regardless…this is a strong and hearty chai!  What a Wake-Up Call!  Sturdy and loud!  It sure has attitude…and I LIKE that!

Earl Grey White Tip from TeaSource

Tea Type: Black Tea

Where To Buy: TeaSource

Product Description:

Made from fine Chinese teas with a large portion of white tips (the most prized leaf of the plant) and blended with the finest oil of bergamot available. Incredibly aromatic and flavorful.

Tasters Review:

Earl Grey White Tip Tea from TeaSource!  Very Nice!

The draw for me on this one is the wonderful bergamot…it’s delightful!  It’s the perfect amount for me and it tastes REAL not artificial.  There is a good deal of that Earl Grey Floral aroma and taste as well which is strong but true.  There is an interesting mellowness or smoothness even tho it’s strong…maybe more towards the end of the sip…regardless it is good and does stand out to be a memorable Earl Grey!

This is a great cuppa for those rough mornings…and this morning…was a rough morning!

Tasters Review:

SororiTEA Sisters was one of the first Tea Review Blogs to review a bottled tea from Marley Beverage Company and we are proud to say that we have a 2nd review to share!  This time around we have All Natural Relaxation Marley’s Mellow Mood Black Tea – Peach Raspberry Passion Fruit.  It says it reduces stress and relieves tension.  It’s decaf, too!  To check out the review we posted back in November for Marley Beverage Company’s Green Tea and Honey CLICK HERE!

As far as a bottled iced tea this is pretty tasty!  As far as a decaf-sweetened-bottled-iced-tea this is pretty awesome, I must say!  Yes, it’s sweet and it’s fruity but here is a lengthier review of this groovy product…

Upon opening the bottle I could smell peach followed by passion fruit with a little berry tied in.  It almost smelled wine-like.  It was a glorious aroma!

My first sip was an eye-opening one!  It was much flavorful than I expected!  A nice-sweet-fruity bottled iced tea is certainly what we have here!  The black tea taste isn’t in the forefront – it seems to be hiding in the background – but with all of the other flavors going on here there is a lot of others to keep me interested and busy!  I could taste the Passion Fruit first and then the Raspberry and the peach isn’t as strong as I thought it would be but that is ok!  It doesn’t leave a funky aftertaste which I appreciate!

This is another pleasant surprise from Marley Beverage Company.

Now…I’ll leave you with another of my favorite Bob Marley songs…

Ahhh!  But there are so many to choose from…

Today I choose…

Tasters Review:

I was afraid when I saw just how much fennel was in this dry blend mix!  I must say I have had some less than pleasant experiences with fennel in tea. BUT…

This is wonderful!   It leads me to believe that much of the fennel that I have had in teas has been either artificial or enhanced in some way with additional flavoring and/or the blends I have had have been too over the top with the other ingredients that either don’t mesh well with the other spices or interrupt the natural fennel taste!

Regardless…
This is what fennel SHOULD be all about!  This has a great deal of Fennel IN the mix but it tastes very good and more natural tasting than others I have tried prior to this little gem from Yogic Chai!

The other ingredients are gentle and in the background. They only assist and do the fennel justice in this specific case!  I’m very impressed with Fennel Masala Chai fro m Yogic Chai!

This if my favorite Fennel Related Tea to date!

Tasters Review:

The dry mix aroma reminds me of a pale chai.  Post infusion – it smells like a sugary black tea with hints of spice…maybe more cinnamon than the other spice types.

The taste is wonderfully surprising.  If you are looking for heavy spices – this is on the light side but I’m totally LOVING it!   There is something naturally-sugary, too, that I can’t put my finger on but it’s delicious!  It’s slightly chewy but not the chewy one may expect.  This is VERY different and I really like it VERY MUCH!

Tippy South Cloud Tea from The Tao of Tea

Tea Type: Black Tea

Where To Buy: The Tao of Tea

Product Description:

Reddish brown brew, sweet aroma with roasted undertones and full bodied flavor.

Tasters Review:

The dry aroma of this Tippy South Cloud from The Tao of Tea sort of reminds me of a lighter darjeeling type scent.  After I infused it – I thought it was  a bit flatter in aroma but it had a nut-like smell to it as well.  I thought the aroma alone was memorable!

The color is dark and bold.

The taste is well rounded and is a medium strength black tea.   It’s fairly smooth and not astringent at all! Even if over infused…which I did put to the test for my 2nd cup of this darling tea!

What a soothing and simple yet tasty black tea!

Completion Tea from Praise Tea is a great green tea and black tea blend!  I’m always interested in blends with more than one tea type base!

The fruity-peach and floral-rose type tastes meet in the middle as do the green tea and black tea tastes!  Everything is pretty even taste-wise and nothing is too overpowering!

Having said that…this IS a flavorful blend!  I really enjoyed all of the flavors here!  Well Done!

    Caffeine Content: Medium

Tasters Review:

Peach Apple Crisp was the very first tea I tried from The Persimmon Tree Tea Company and I must say I am impressed!

DRY this smells like various black teas, peaches, apples, flowers, spices, and a little hibiscusy.  It’s  FULL of aroma and I like that!Post infusion… this smells mostly of peaches, apples, flowers, and cinnamon. Different than the pre-infusion but still very nice and very aromatic!  Another PLUS in my book!

It infuses to a nice medium golden brown color.

The flavor is absolutely delightful!  I can taste individually the peach, the apple, the cinnamon, and the flowers…but they all jive well together!

The stereotypical Rooibos taste wasn’t really there as much so I would suggest this blend to ANYONE who thinks Rooibos is NOT for them…this just may change your mind!

The more I sip on this the more I like it! My first cup I had HOT but assume it would be tremendous cold, too!  I am going to have to put that to the test very soon!

Simply put…I LOVE THIS blend!  I have officially put it in my upper 95+ percentile of teas I LOVE.  Stay tuned to SororiTEA Sisters for more tea reviews from The Persimmon Tree Tea Company!

How is Chai Cart Different from other Chai Companies?
Make sure you Read The Story HERE!!!

Tasters Review:

I just received this one today and tore it open right away.  This isn’t uncommon for me to do, mind you, I’m so eager to try new teas…I usually can’t stand waiting!

Many of you know my trials and tribulations with chai.  Either the spices are too strong, not strong enough, one or more ingredient is stronger over the others and distracts me from fully enjoying my cuppa…the list goes on and on!

I swear this specific chai was made especially for me.  Well, that’s my story and I am sticking to it, anyways!  The spices are PERFECTLY done to my liking and it has MINT…lovely, lovely MINT!  You know how I LOVE mint!  It’s not over the top mint…it’s JUST RIGHT!

Many of you know I drink all of my teas plain including chai.  This is perfect plain but the company states it’s great with or without additions.

I love the fact that it’s organic and Fair Trade!  I LOVE the concept of this company!  Their customer service is wonderful!  Their website is very nice!  I wish I lived near San Fran…I would be a daily customer to the cart!  In the meantime, I am completely enjoying this CHAI piece of art!  YUM!

I’m declaring this my FAVORITE Chai to date!

Manhattan Earl Grey from Sands of Thyme

Tea Type: Black Tea

Where To Buy: Sands of Thyme

Product Description:

http://www.sandsofthyme.artfire.com
Ingredients: black tea, sunflower blossoms, flavor, mallow blossoms

Tasters Review:

I’m always looking for something OTHER than run-of-the-mill Earl Grey and this one fits the bill.  Sure, it’s floral, but that is the draw with this one!  It’s strong but creamy.  The Bergamot isn’t the focus here it’s very much in the background and contributes a little more than a hint of it in the overall taste of the tea.  The stereotypical Earl Grey taste is a bit more subtle that most and the floral notes have stepped up to bat for this one.

This is a nice departure from your stereotypical Earl and I like it!

Assam Borengajuli FBOP from Culinary Teas

Malty with a jammy-like flavor best describes this premium tea. The tea is vacuum-packed at the estate capturing the pungent 2nd flush flavor at its peak.

Tasters Review:

I know this isn’t a Holiday-Related Tea Post…but…I like this tea and really want to share it with you all today!  It’s Assam Borengajuli from Culinary Teas…a strong and sturdy black tea!

When I first smelled the dry leaves I was thinking it smelled a little like those Raisins in the lil red boxes…a different yet welcomed aroma.

Post infusion it smells like bakey black tea.  A hefty Assam, indeed!

The taste is a BOLD black tea taste a little sweet at first but then turns a bit jammy.

I did try a 2nd infusion on this, too, and it was quite nice!  It was much smoother the 2nd time around and was more fruit-like.  It bet it would go great with toast!  YUM!

Holiday Fruit & Spice Blend from Mark T. Wendell

Tea Type: Black Tea

Where To Buy: Mark T. Wendell

Product Description:

A blend of select black tea leaves with orange pieces, bits of cranberry, ginger and cinnamon. A winter season favorite that is now available year-round.

Tasters Review:

I know Anne already reviewed this one about 2 weeks ago but I figured since the timing is right – being the holidays and all – and because this exceeded my expectations – I thought I would write about it as well!

Holiday Fruit & Spice Blend from Mark T. Wendell is better than I thought it would be!   Sure, it smells just like you assume it would but this is a tasty flavored black tea…juicy cran and the spices are just-right!  The draw for me on this one – is that the spices seemed to have been Taylor-made just for me!  Okay…maybe not…JUST FOR ME…but the spice is done nicely and not over the top and the cranberry flavors are exceptional!

I’ll Be Home For Christmas from Adagio Signature Blend by Rachana Carter

Tea Type: Black Tea

Where To Buy: Adagio

Product Description:

I have combined mostly creamy chestnut, buttery caramel, and spicy cinnamon to warm you up this holiday season. Enjoy a hot steaming cup with your best of friends and family. May it help stir up warm and found memories of Christmas past and help create new memories to come. Give it a try with some milk and sugar/sweetener. Just be sure to heat up the milk first. Enjoy!

Created by: Rachana Carter
Contains: chestnut, caramel, cinnamon

Tasters Review:

I thought it was the perfect time to say THANKS AGAIN to Rachana Carter for sending me some of this specific Signature Blend of hers that she blended over at Adagio.

I found the more I drank this one…the more I enjoyed it!  And now I am out of my stash!  All good things really do come to an end, don’t they!?  Anyhow…here are some of my findings…

The aroma is very light but warming.  What I can smell of it is the Chestnut and a tad of caramel.  I’m not smelling much cinnamon – but I’m fine with that…as I think many teas tend to over-do it with the cinnamon.  This was a great happy-medium with black tea, spices, and other flavors.

It infuses to a pretty dark brown.

I really like the fact that the Black Tea taste is upfront and the flavors are on the assist.   The flavors play nice together.   They circle around in your mouth nicely, too.   I can taste the Chestnut and Caramel pretty much equally and the cinnamon acts as the caboose.

I like it! The cinnamon is JUST RIGHT…it’s really all you need.

A little spice is OH SO NICE this time of year!  This one had me grinning from Ear-To-Ear!

SororiTEA Sisters wish you Holiday Cheer!

Peach & Passion from Ahmad Tea

Tea Type: Black Tea

Where To Buy: Ahmad Tea

Product Description:

A refreshing blend of exclusive quality teas enhanced with fruit flavour. A delicious cup of tea for any time of the day, which can be served both hot and cold.

Tasters Review:

There are three things I know…I like black tea, I like peaches, and I like Passion fruit…so…why shouldn’t I like this tea!?

Dry this smells great!  It smells more peach than passion fruit.  Post infusion both aromas are equally the same – or so they seem to be.

I can taste a little more passion than peach but you can still taste the black tea…which I am thankful for!  I really like this flavor combo especially for a bagged tea!

Tasters Review:

Organic Holiday Spice Black Tea from Arbor Teas smells wonderful!  Black Tea, Orange, and Spice! ALL VERY NICE!

The taste is great!  The orange is more prominent than the other flavors which I LOVE.   The Black Tea and the spices are about equal in strength and they are perfect together!

Even with the spices this has a lovely smoothness to it which surprised yet delighted me!

I REALLY enjoy this tea from Arbor Teas…maybe a little TOO MUCH. This one made it in my upper 90 percentile!  YUM!

Continued Seasons Greetings from the SororiTEA Sisters!

Shizuoka Black Tea from Den’s Tea

Tea Type: Black Tea

Where To Buy: Den’s Tea

Product Description:

As you may know, 99% of the current tea production in Japan is green tea. However, about 130 years ago Japan tried to produce and export black tea as a government policy.
Tea scholar, Mr. Tada (1829-1896), was sent to China and India to acquire black tea manufacturing skills in 1875.
Upon his return, he established a tea farm at Mariko in Shizuoka and since then, Mariko has been a mecca for Japanese black tea. However, black tea never did become a major industry in Japan as some peopled had hoped.

One tea farmer in Mariko, Mr. Matsumura, has been manufacturing black tea since the 1950’s as well as growing high quality green tea. Our parent company, Shirakata-Denshiro Shoten, has done business with Mr. Matsumura for a long time. Mr. Matsumura even created the manufacturing machine for black tea and is considered the father of modern black tea production in Shizuoka. His tea is made with the tea species “Beni Fuki”. The cup is mild with very little bitterness and is highly aromatic. Its flavor is different from the black teas made in major Asian and African producing countries.

Tasters Review:

When I think of awesome Green Tea offerings one company I always think of is Den’s Tea.  This is one of their Black Teas and I must say it’s pretty darned awesome as well!

Shizuoka Black Tea from Den’s Tea is nice and bold and slightly astringent. The aroma is cakey-crust-like…and I just love it!

I can taste a sencha-like comparison and I think it’s lovely and unique.   I didn’t get as much of the oolong comparison they mentioned (in the product description) with the slight fruity notes but it could be because I tend to over infuse the amount of loose leaf too.  I like my teas STRONG.   I’m not worried or bothered by that because I am very excited about the cups I have been drinking of this and am totally jazzed I was able to try this!

This is nice hot or cold, too, which is GREAT because I’m a HUGE fan of strong, black iced teas as well!  YAY!
