Have Hope – Citrus Strawberry White Tea from Teamotions

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  White

Where to Buy:  Teamotions

Product Description:

Flavor Profile Delicately sweet with bright notes of mandarin, tangerine, and strawberry.

Ingredients White Tea, Oatstraw, Schizandra Berry, Ginger, Safflower Petals, Strawberry, Natural Flavors.

Taster’s Review:

This is such a deliciously unique tea!

The fragrance of the dry leaf is amazing – I can smell the citrus tones, a light amount of spice from the ginger, and the strawberry!  Together, these scents create a mesmerizing aroma.

The flavor is light and crisp.  The white tea base has a delicate vegetative taste.  It is clean and fresh.  There is a soft, barely-there mouthfeel and a light astringency.

The fruit flavors are nicely balanced and appeal to the palate with sweet, tangy and tart notes.  The ginger is not overwhelming here and adds just a hint of zesty spice.  I don’t remember having tasted oatstraw in a tea before, so I don’t know if I’m tasting it now or not, but, oatstraw is very beneficial to health and I’m glad it’s there!

As I sip, I can feel the stresses of the day melt away.  I can even feel the tension in my shoulders lighten a little!  This is an amazing tea, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to try it.

Strawberry Pickin’ from Tea, Oh!

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Green

Where to Buy:  Tea, Oh!

Product Description:

Fruity, smooth green tea ripe with sweet strawberry pieces.

Taster’s Review:

This hardly seems like the right time of year to be sipping on a strawberry tea as it is something that simply SCREAMS summertime to me, but it IS a nice way to enjoy a taste of summer without actually experiencing the warmer weather (and to be perfectly honest, I prefer the cooler weather – it makes hot tea all that more enjoyable).

This is a well-blended strawberry green tea.  It is extremely well-balanced, with the green tea flavor only slightly edging out the strawberry taste.  That is to say, it’s a little more green tea than it is strawberry.  But, I think that it should be like that, since this is a tea!

The green tea tastes lush and fresh!  It is only lightly grassy, but not in a bitter-tasting grassy sort of way.  Just lightly vegetal with a soft buttery taste.  There isn’t a lot of mouthfeel to this tea, but what little there is feels pleasant to the palate.  It finishes with a hint of astringency and a very nice sweet berry taste.

The strawberry is (as I’ve already mentioned) sweet and delicious.  It reminds me very much of the taste that I experience when I bite into a ripe, juicy berry.  No real tartness here either – just plump, delicious strawberry taste.  YUM!

This tea would be fabulous iced!  It’s definitely a tea that you should stock up on for the summertime – it’s bound to be an iced tea favorite!  I’m finding it to be equally as tasty as a hot tea, so keep it on hand all year ’round!  You won’t be disappointed!

Chocolate Strawberry Tempation from Talbott Teas

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Black

Where to Buy:  Talbott Teas

Product Description:

Juicy red strawberries with a kiss of dark coca -this black tea is all about you. Bursting with luxurious flavor, it’s decadence dipped in excess with a side of unbridled joy.

All natural premium ingredients: Full-leaf black tea, strawberry pieces, cacao nibs, strawberry leaf, chocolate and strawberry flavors.

Taster’s Review:

I tried this tea back in December, but I held off on publishing the review until just before Valentines Day, because when I think of chocolate and strawberries, I think of Valentine’s Day.

The fragrance of the tea that sits before me is delicious – it is making my mouth water!  I can smell notes of chocolate and strawberry, as well as a very pleasant-smelling black tea.  The combination of these scents is fantastic.

The black tea base tastes like a Ceylon tea to me, it has a brisk flavor but a fairly even-toned taste to it.  It has a smooth, clean taste with a light astringency that lightly dries the palate in the finish.

The strawberry flavor hits strongest in the aftertaste.  I can taste the strawberry throughout the sip, but it is in the aftertaste where I taste the sweet yet tart tingle that is very strawberry-esque.  It reminds me of a fresh, delicious strawberry.

This is a tea that should be served hot… but, should not be consumed until it has had a few moments to cool.  The slight cooling will allow the flavors to develop a little bit, and I found that this tea was much more satisfying when it was still hot, but not directly-from-the-teapot-hot.  The chocolate flavor is the reason I mention this about allowing the tea to cool slightly… I find that when the tea is still piping hot, the chocolate flavor seems almost… absent.  But, as it cools a little (I’d say its now an easily sip-able temperature.  That is, it is not so hot that it scalds my tongue) the chocolate flavor develops nicely.

Overall, this is a very pleasant cuppa.  I would probably find it even more satisfying with a little more chocolate, but then, I’m a chocoholic, and I’m of the belief that more chocolate is always better.  As it is, though, it’s quite delicious.

I’ll get straight to the point…I LOVE THIS FLAVORED OOLONG!  Strawberry Oolong from Butiki Teas is certainly a winner in my book!

It has the tiny pearls I have seen in some Cherry Blossom Green Teas – that I have tried in the past – and I think they are lovely and a nice touch to this Strawberry Flavored Oolong!

The aroma is excellent! The Oolong Leaves are screaming multiple infusions!   I did put this to the test and it holds up very well to multiple infusions!  This is also wonderful hot or cold!

The strawberry tastes are spectacular!  They are sweet without ANY trace of sour or bitterness. This is very sweet and very nice!

I’m totally diggin’ Butiki Teas Flavored Oolongs!

So far every tea/tisane I have had of theirs is wonderful! I really like this company!!!

Little Black Dress Strawberry Vanilla from Teaquilibrium

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Oolong & Green Yerba Maté

Where to Buy:  Teaquilibrium

Product Description:

Close your eyes and imagine sitting in a field of fresh strawberries– breathe in the intoxicating scent, pick a plump berry and let the flavor burst in your mouth. Teaquilibrium’s organically grown Strawberry Vanilla is delightful and gently energizing. The distinct flavor of green yerba mate magically blends with the smooth toasty cocoa aroma of the oolong, organically grown strawberries and topped with a hint of vanilla. As with all of our Little Black Dress teas, Strawberry Vanilla is an exclusive Teaquilibrium blend.

Try Strawberry Vanilla hot or chilled. For a delicious and refreshing pick me up, cold infuse Little Black Dress Strawberry Vanilla and serve in a pitcher with fresh strawberries.

Taster’s Review:

Happy New Year!

I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a blend quite like this one.  Oolong and Green Yerba Maté?  I certainly had my doubts going in to this but, I am glad I finally decided to try it, because it is really quite tasty!

The combination of Oolong and Yerba Maté make for a truly interesting blend.  The Oolong has a rich, roasted and somewhat buttery quality to it, and the Yerba Maté seems to pick up where the Oolong leaves off to create a very full-flavored experience – one that neither Oolong nor Yerba Maté could accomplish on their own.

The flavors are a bit lighter than I was anticipating, although the flavors do intensify as I make my way toward the bottom of the cup.  I like the way the sweet, ripe strawberry flavor sort of pops in and out of the sip, while the vanilla adds a creaminess that completes the flavor.  This is a pleasantly smooth and sweet cup – but not too sweet.

This is a very well-rounded cup that I really enjoyed!  Bravo to Teaquilibrium for a tea well done!

Champagne Rose from Lupicia

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Black

Where to Buy:  Lupicia

Product Description:

Black tea flavored with sweet strawberries and champagne. Perfect as a festive gift.

Taster’s Review:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I am very pleasantly surprised by this tea.  Until now, most of the champagne flavored teas I’ve tasted has been with a white tea base and because white tea is so light and delicate in flavor, I thought it was a perfect match with the sparklingly light taste of champagne.  I was skeptical about how well the champagne flavor would translate in a black tea.

But, I am very impressed!  Not only does the champagne flavor sparkle through but it is so nicely infused with the strawberry flavor.  This is so delicious – like a New Year’s celebration in a teacup!

The black tea base is robust and bright.  There is a slight (very slight) bitterness at the tail end of the sip, but I find that it is a very intriguing contrast to the sweetness of the strawberry and champagne flavor and lends a certain savory element to this otherwise sweet tea.

The strawberry tastes sweet and offers a hint of tartness, while the champagne tastes like … well, champagne!  This is tea and not a sparkling wine, so it doesn’t have the bubbly aspect of champagne, but it does have a certain grape-like taste to it with a clean, almost tannic quality that is very representative of my limited experience with tasting champagne.  (err… that is to say, I don’t drink champagne very often!)  It is not strongly astringent, but there is a hint of that wine-like characteristic that expresses itself as champagne-like.  This is also really good iced!

This is one of the best teas that I’ve tasted from Lupicia – and I’ve tasted quite a few.  I wouldn’t go so far as to say this one is my favorite from Lupicia, but it is probably in the top 5.  VERY GOOD!

Strawberry White Tea from Shanti Tea

Tea Type: White Tea

Where To Buy:  Shanti Tea

Product Description:

This tea combines the soft flavour of white tea with a hint of strawberry. White tea is loaded with antioxidants and is also said to strengthen the circulatory and immune systems. A treat for nose and palette.

Story

Strawberries have grown wild for millennia in temperature regions throughout the world. They were highly prized by many ancient Romans. In the Middle Ages, they were prized again, more so for their medicinal qualities than delicious flavour. Today, the strawberry is the most popular type of berry fruit in the world. While there are more than 600 varieties of strawberries that differ in flavor, size and texture.

Tasters Review:

I tend to add more loose leaf than suggested because I usually like a strong flavor with most or all of my teas.  The first time I tried this one I used what I would call my normal amount of loose leaf.  I was completely shocked at the flavor it was almost too much of the sour and puckery taste to handle.

I promised myself I would then try the suggested amount…and that’s exactly what I did!  It was MUCH better!  A little goes a long way here, folks!  This flavored white is packed with flavor and personality!

At first I thought this had hibiscus in it but I cannot tell – for sure – based on the description – I guess it could just be the strawberries in the dry mix.  It’s a tarty/puckery type strawberry.  In this case, I personally, prefer less as well.  I am not really into tarty teas – so less is more with me!  This one worked out really well when I did what they suggested with the loose leaf amount.  The Strawberry flavor was amazing!  I also LOVE that Shanti Teas did a Strawberry WHITE tea!

Another thing I would like to mention in this review is the aroma!

I will say I LOVE the way this one smells and it reminds me of a strawberry chapstick I used to LOVE as a kid…the 80s RULE…I miss them when it comes to certain stuff like strawberry chapstick!  I know there are other strawberry chapsticks out there but not like the one I specifically remember the aroma to from the 80s!

I just LOVE creative flavored teas and lately flavored WHITES is something I have been extremely interested in.  This is one of Shanti’s newer offerings and I think it’s a treat!

On the 11th Day of Christmas … from 52Teas

Today is Christmas Eve… and I still haven’t finished all the holiday preparations.  I still have presents to buy!

Yeah… I’m not the most organized individual you’re likely to meet.  That’s putting it mildly!

It may not appear so by just reading these words, but … I’m about to have a panic attack!  Good thing I have some tea to help soothe my nerves!

And the tea that I’m enjoying today is …

NEAPOLITAN HONEYBUSH

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Honeybush

Where to Buy:  52Teas

Product Description:

Our caffeine-free African Honeybush (If you are still not familiar with honeybush, it is very similar to Rooibos, but a bit sweeter and without the woody aftertaste that rooibos frequently has) blended with organic vanilla beans, organic cacao nibs, freeze-dried strawberry pieces and all natural flavors. This is a real treat hot or iced!

Taster’s Review:

I can’t believe that I haven’t yet written a review for this tea!

Well, no time like the present, eh?  This is a tea that I’ve had on hand for some time now.  I am not going to say its my favorite tisane from 52Teas, because it isn’t, but, I do like it quite a bit!  I think I like it even more now than I did when I first tasted it.

For those of you that have one, I recommend brewing this in a Libre Tea Glass (or similar type vessel).  I put the leaf into the main chamber of the glass, screw on the straining lid, and sip the tisane through the strainer.  This enables me to keep the honeybush in the liquid as I sip it, and the flavor continues to intensify.  This tea just keeps getting better and better the longer it steeps!

After steeping just six minutes, my first few sips were delicious.  I could taste a good combination of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, together with the somewhat nutty/honey sweet taste of the honeybush.  But now, after continuing to steep some additional 15 or 20 minutes after those first couple of sips, the flavor is even better.  The chocolate – RICH!  The strawberry – SWEET!  The vanilla – CREAMY!  I think I actually like this tisane better than the ice cream after which it was created!

The flavor is really smooth and creamy, just like ice cream.  The only real difference is the temperature and the slightly nutty taste that comes from the honeybush.  I have tasted this tea hot and iced, and it is really tasty either way.  I found it to be very refreshing this past summer when I iced it.  Right now, I’m finding it to be particularly soothing on the nervous tension I’m experiencing due to my shopping dilemma.

This tea is such a wonderful treat!

On the 10th Day of Christmas … from 52Teas

Wow… just 3 more sample packages left.  I am going to miss this!

It’s been a lot of fun – these mystery samples, even though I’ve already tried all but one of them previously.  It’s a bit like visiting an old friend.

And when I think about it, I don’t know that I could have had enjoyed this experience with any other company.  Having tried so many offerings from 52Teas and having not yet found one that disappointed me, I knew that I would enjoy this package of 12 mystery teas.

So, thank you, 52Teas for being what you are!  A great company dedicated to creating the most interesting tea blends possible.  I wouldn’t want it any other way!

On the 10th Day of Christmas, 52Teas gave to me…

STRAWBERRY ZABAGLIONE

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Black

Where to Buy:  52Teas

Product Description:

This was a suggestion from one of our customers, and I spent an hour digging through my email folders and searching our facebook page, but I couldn’t find the original suggestion anywhere, so I couldn’t put his or her name on the blend.

Anyway, when I first got the suggestion, I realized I was going to have to MAKE some Zabaglione to try, because not only had I not tried it before, but I had never HEARD of it before. Well after trying it (for those of you who never have, I would say it is something like a custardy (flavor, not texture) whipped cream with a hint of wine. After trying it, I was not at all sure that we would be able to make a tea that hinted of the complexity of Zabaglione, but after some trial and error, we now have… [Strawberry Zabaglione]

Taster’s Review:

Well, today, I’m going to try to keep this short and sweet, mostly because I have an appointment this morning and time is ticking away!

I have previously reviewed this tea, and you can read that review here.   This is another favorite from 52Teas.  The flavor is amazing!  The strawberry tastes authentic – just like a fresh, juicy strawberry!  The creamy “zabaglione” tastes very custard-like (which is what I understand a zabaglione is supposed to taste like).

The black tea base is strong and supports these flavors well. Together, it is a delicious treat!  Drink it in the morning to enjoy dessert at the breakfast table!  Drink it in the afternoon for a delightful pick-me-up.  A splash of milk will bring out the creamy tones of the custard!

Yum!  I’m glad this tea was a part of this package because it definitely is one of the shining stars from 52Teas accomplishments this past year!

Herbal Lush Chamomile from TeaScapes

Tea Type: Herbal

Where To Buy: TeaScapes

Product Description:

Herbal Lush tea consists of a bright blend of delicate chamomile and spicy cinnamon with bits of strawberry and rose petals. The brewed tea produces a relaxing combination that has a mild fruity spark. It is a great evening tea to aid with relaxation and end the day with a smile.

Tasters Review:

Over the past week or two I have been REALLY pushing the envelop – I have been purposely forcing myself to taste teas that I usually don’t go for.  Many of them have had Chamomile and/or Hibiscus.

I’m not too fond of Chamomile unless the other ingredients impress me!  With this specific herbal from TeaScapes – the name and the look of the ingredients blended together is what interested me.  It just seemed different.  I had also been very pleased with the other TeaScapes Teas I have tried lately so I thought this one would give me something to write about either way!

The little bit of cinnamon that is coming thru is a nice touch and helps calm down the intense chamomile.  Sure, the chamomile is still present but not as much as I thought it would be.  The strawberry notes are barely there and I would LOVE to taste a little bit more but understand their reasoning for this…it’s not supposed to be about the strawberry!   The rose somewhat works hand-in-hand with the chamomile to bring that floral bouquet type taste.

This is a nice twist on Chamomile and for that I do enjoy this herbal from TeaScapes!

It’s not my preference in flavor combos but a good calming and floral mix that certainly surprised me! This is pretty good, indeed!

Strawberry Pie from My Sweet Honeybush

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Honeybush

Where to Buy:  My Sweet Honeybush

Company Description:

Why should apple, cherry and blueberry get all the attention? Here’s our strawberry pie flavored honeybush with real freeze dried strawberries, organic vanilla bean bits, cinnamon and all natural flavors including strawberry, vanilla and hints of butter, brown sugar and cinnamon!

Taster’s Review:

YUMMMMM!  If you like strawberry – you really must try this honeybush blend.  It’s fantastic!

The strawberry flavor is very authentic – it tastes like sweet, juicy strawberries.  There is very little tart to this berry flavor.  It is like the strawberries you might pick up at a strawberry field – fresh and ripe!  And with the naturally honey-esque sweetness of the honeybush, the fruit flavor really intensifies.

The cinnamon and vanilla add a nice dimension to this blend too.  But what really makes this blend so amazing is the buttery “pie” like flavor.  With the butter flavor in there, it gives it a butter-rich shortbread crust kind of taste.

Now, I haven’t ever really had strawberry pie other than Marie Callender’s type of strawberry pie, and I’m not terribly fond of that syrupy gunk they put in their strawberry pie.  But… I have had a lot of strawberry shortcake!  My gramma used to make strawberry shortcake using her pie crust dough which was sprinkled with cinnamon.  And that is what this tastes like!

Thank you, My Sweet Honeybush, for this lovely, very memorable tea that evokes such fond memories!

Naked Strawberry Green Tea from Fully Loaded Tea

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Green

Where to Buy:  Fully Loaded Tea

Company Description:

It’s not North America’s favorite berry for nothing. You can see large pieces of real strawberry nestled among the highest quality green tea leaves. What a combination! What’s that in there? Rose petals? Amazingly soothing and incredibly aromatic, the fragrance of the Rose Petals and natural sweetness of the Strawberries give this Green Tea a whole new flavor. Yum.

Ingredients: green tea leaves, jasmine green tea leaves, natural flavors, strawberry pieces, strawberry leaves, orange flowers, rose petals

Taster’s Review:

I’ve not heard of this tea company before – and now that I’m tasting the tea, I’m thinking – WHY NOT?  This is really delicious.

The green tea base is light and refreshing, with a light, buttery taste.  I am not getting a strong vegetative quality to it, but, there are vague grassy tones to the cup.  The green tea tastes light and vibrant and doesn’t interfere with the lovely flavors.

The strawberry is the strongest flavor here, but, it isn’t the only flavor that I’m tasting.  I can taste a floral component, as well as a light citrus-y component to this cup.  The citrus comes from the orange blossoms – which also lends a faint floral taste to the cup.  The lightness of the citrus seems to meld perfectly with the strawberry flavor and really highlights the strawberry well.

But my favorite part of this tea is the jasmine notes I’m getting.  Light – ever so light – but so beautiful.  I like the way the jasmine floats over my tongue.  The rose is also very delicate in this cup, but quite delightful.

It is like a lovely dream.  I really LOVE this tea from Fully Loaded Tea!

Tasters Review:

I really had no idea what to expect from this tea.  But sometimes I think it’s a great idea to go into a cup like that!  Here are my findings on Little Black Dress Strawberry Vanilla from Teaquilibrium…

First off this certainly smells wonderful!  It’s a gentle aroma but you can pick out both the strawberry and the vanilla.  When it comes to taste it’s a great combination of flavors!  The Strawberry is juicy and sweet and the vanilla is creamy and smooth.  Both paired with the Yerba AND the Oolong it makes for a truly unique blend and flavor!  It’s sugary-sweet and refreshing!

Normally I don’t ever put anything in my teas!  When I was trying this I must have been in rare form and thought with my 2nd infusion that I would sprinkle some sugar in it.  Honestly, I was surprised that I liked it as much as I did!  It was like a different tea!  It was still good and tasty but different and still equally as unique.  By adding the little bit of sugar to it – it seemed to cancel out the vanilla a little as well as a bit of the creaminess.  It also intensified the strawberry flavor.  It sort of reminded me of fresh picked strawberries with sugar on top…that sort of flavor!

I must say I like this one hot and/or cold…maybe a little bit more cold, actually, and I also like it with or without sugar!  A very nice offering from a very nice tea company!

Our Tea of the Week for the week of May 31, 2010

Tasters Review:

I’ve now had two separate tries with this tea and here is what I have found…

For my first attempt…

I found this to be very VERY nice!  It’s very creamy and a lovely Strawberry taste without being tart or fake tasting!  There is a a bit of fruit, a bit of wine, and lots of cream! Ahhhhhh!

My second go-around was just as pleasing!  Yes, the strawberry is still there and is juicy and plump in flavor but this time around I picked up more on the wine-likeness and it was a beautiful thing!  And the cream was perfect and more towards the end of the sip!  Truly unique!

All good things must come to an end – and so has this tea in my stash.  I’m officially putting this one on my re-order list because it’s a goodie!!!

Strawberry Seduction from Element Tea

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  White

Where to Buy:  Element Tea

Company Description:

Chinese Bai Mu Dan White tea is blended with strawberries, enhancing the natural sweetness of this full leaf and bud tea. A true favorite! Makes a great iced tea!

Taster’s Review:

This tea smells nice – especially the brewed liquor!  The strawberry scent is strong, there is a leafy element and a hint of flower too.  Beautiful.  It would make a lovely bath tea… but I made this tea to drink!

I can taste the sweet, juicy taste of the strawberry.  It is just a little tart… but this is a very delicate tart note – perhaps the most delicate tartness that I’ve encountered in a strawberry blend to date.  Rather than that “berry tingle” (as I often call it), it is more like a “berry kiss” on the tip of the tongue.  Very nice!

I can also taste the leafy sweetness of the white tea.  It is vaguely vegetative with distant floral notes.  There is no bitterness (I think you can just set this to brew and forget about it, come back to it 10 minutes later and it still wouldn’t be bitter – just as long as the water isn’t too hot!) and very little astringency.

This tea is a beautiful marriage of flavors.  It is delicious served hot or iced.  However, if you choose to ice it (and you should – it’s really thirst quenching!) I recommend adding just a pinch of sugar or other natural sweetener (such as honey or agave nectar) to perk up the flavors just a bit, as the chill does have a slight muting effect on this tea.

This is a really delicious strawberry tea.  I’m so glad that I chose to sip this today… as the skies are turning gray it is nice to have this lovely “kiss” of summer in my teacup!

Westchester Tea from Trump Tea

Tea Type: Herbal Tea

Where To Buy: Trump Tea

Product Description:

Antioxidant-rich organic blueberries bring priceless elegance
to this assortment of soothing herbs and delectable fruits.
The delicate flavors of rosehips, hibiscus and elderberry add
depth and character to this wonderfully luxurious blend. (caffeine-free)

Ingredients: Organic hibiscus, raisin, elderberry, blueberry, strawberry, mango, raspberry, natural organic extracts of strawberry, vanilla and cherry.

Tasters Review:

This is my 3rd Trump Tea and I must say I am overly pleased with Trump Tea as a whole!  As for Westchester Tea from Trump Tea the aroma of the dry blend – prior to steep smells like Blueberry, Strawberry, and Raspberry.  Once steeped I can smell the Elderberry, Mango, Cherry, Strawberry, Blueberry, Raspberry – in that order as I sniff.  From a distance (across the room as a matter of fact) this smells like a fruity candy!  The color – once steeped – is a Purple/Red and very vibrant!

I can taste the flavors in this order – Blueberry then Strawberry followed by Raspberry and Cherry and the Hibiscus jumps in and then jumps out (just enough to say HELLO) and then moves on to Elderberry and Mango…the Vanilla and Raisin flavors are subtle and add more to the aftertaste than anything else.

This bagged tea is jam-packed with ingredients and they all seem to mesh well!  There is so much going on it thankfully overpowers the hibiscus and makes it tolerable. Many of you know how Hibiscus is usually a turn off in teas for me but NOT in this! It works and it works VERY well!

I do prefer this one hot but here is what I found trying it iced…

The Strawberry and Hibiscus pops out more in the ICED Version. I like the Strawberry notes but think overall I like the HOT over the ICED because of the lesser Hibiscus flavors in the HOT…regardless this is still pretty darned yummy!

I’m very pleased with this one and very surprised I like it as much as I do! 3 for 3 for me on Trump Teas!

Strawberry Pickin’ from Tea Oh

Tea Type: Green Tea

Where To Buy: Tea Oh

Product Description:

Fruity, smooth green tea ripe with sweet strawberry pieces.

Tasters Review:

This smells AWESOME! Fresh Strawberries!!!!!!!  All Summer I have been craving FRESH Strawberries…and let’s just say I was left wanting.  It seemed every time I bought some they were not that great.  When I smelled this tea it was EXACTLY the aroma of FRESH and juicy Strawberries!

The taste is basically 50/50 Green Tea/Strawberry and this is VERY nice!!! There is no funky aftertaste. The aroma lingers more than anything…makes me want to go pick strawberries!  Hence, the name, I suppose?  The Green Tea and Strawberry in this could not be more perfectly matched!  This is a wonderful flavored green tea!

Strawberry Black Tea from Enjoying Tea

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Black

Where to Buy:  Enjoying Tea

Company Description:

This tea is made from top grade orange pekoe Ceylon with natural strawberry flavoring. The Ceylon tea is grown at the altitude of 7000 feet above sea level from the Sri Lanka region. When brewed this tea produces a bright coppery color liquid with fresh strawberry flavor and with touches of mild astringency. A fantastic fruit tea.

Taster’s Review:

Yum!  Is there any fruit that screams out “summer” like a strawberry?  Sweet and juicy, vibrant red flesh – even those little seeds that get caught in between the teeth.  OK… maybe that part isn’t so great, but, I’m willing to trade the small inconvenience of getting tiny seeds caught in between my teeth for the deliciously sweet flavor of a fresh strawberry, anytime!

But with this tea, I don’t have to!  I get that sweet, delicious flavor of a strawberry AND no tiny seeds!

The flavor of this tea is true to the fruit – juicy sweetness with just a hint of berry tart that dances on the tip of my tongue in the finish.  It is incredibly yummy!

Ceylon tea is a good choice as a base for this tea.  The Ceylon used here is mild with a light astringency.  It produces a lovely coppery cup that is full-flavored with a pleasant medium body, while being mellow enough to not interfere with the amazing fruit flavor.

This tea is delicious served hot and extraordinarily refreshing served chilled.  As I mentioned in a previous review, my favorite way to serve this iced is blended with a 50-50 ratio of Strawberry Black Tea and English Breakfast Black Tea (also from Enjoying Tea).  This gives it more of a tea flavor with a hint of strawberry flavor.  It is guaranteed to revitalize even the most heat weary soul!

Strawberry & Vanilla from Lupicia

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Green

Where to Buy:  Lupicia

Company Description:

Green tea with matcha is flavored with sweet fragrance of strawberry and vanilla.

Taster’s Review:

This tea is delightful!

The dry tea smells amazing – it smells a lot like strawberry milk!  It has that same creamy, strawberry scent.  The brewed liquor offers a softer aroma, but, it still smells positively delicious.

This is a green tea blend that contains Matcha, which is noticeable upon opening the package with a light powdering of green “dust.”   It is this addition of Matcha that makes this strawberry green tea so special.  The Matcha adds just the right amount of fresh, sweet taste.  Amazing!

Lupicia Tea does not indicate on their website what kind of green tea (other than the Matcha) is used in this blend.  But it is light and bright in flavor, and provides a good base for the strawberry flavor, which is slightly sweet, and a bit tart, and very much like biting into a ripe strawberry:  juicy and delicious.  The vanilla is softer in flavor, and softens some of the stronger strawberry notes… much the same way that whipped cream softens the flavor of a strawberry.  The result is a cup of smooth, sweet, creamy berry goodness.

This light-bodied tea is outstanding served hot, but, I think it would also be quite good chilled too.  The Matcha does somewhat settle to the bottom of the cup, so, do yourself a favor and keep a spoon nearby to stir it.  The Matcha really adds a beautiful flavor to this cup, so it’s worth this little extra effort to keep it incorporated in the tea.

This tea needs no sweetener.  Most flavored teas need just a little sweetener to bring out the best flavor in the cup, but, this one is an exception – it is pleasantly flavorful with a sweet-tart attitude that comes through without the addition of sweetener.  However, you might find that the slightly sour qualities of this tea are a bit too sour (it is *almost* too sour for me, but not quite) and you might want to add a little sugar to curb that.  If you like sweet-tart candy, you’ll like this tea!

Moreover, if you like strawberry green teas – you MUST try this tea.  It is astounding!

Taster’s Review:

This tea smells amazing.  It possesses a very fruity bouquet:  I can smell both the strawberry and the fig, with the strawberry fragrance being the most prominent.  The aroma also captures the essence of the lavender in this blend, creating a lovely melange of fruit and flower that is simply a delight to experience.

And that’s just the dry leaf!  The aroma of the brewed tea is even more enchanting than the dry leaf.  Some of the notes of the black tea emerge as the tea brews, giving off a warm, biscuit-y scent, and when introduced with the fragrances of fruit and flower, it becomes truly irresistible!

But as I’ve said before, it’s the flavor that really matters most, and this tea delivers on flavor too.  The flavor of the lavender is very pleasantly pronounced.  It is very floral in taste, but somehow, the lavender in this tea tastes quite unlike any other lavender tea (or even just lavender), that I’ve encountered from here in the United States.  The lavender from France is magnificent!

A pleasant sweetness washes over the palate with this tea also courtesy of the honey.  The honey is not super strong, and therefore is not overly sweet, but, it is just enough to help bring out the sweetness of the fruit and flower of this blend.   In contrast, there is a slight sharpness to the tea which I accredit to the sunflower petals.  It makes for a unique experience for the palate.

The strawberry is also well-defined in this blend.  And I don’t know if I’ve ever tasted strawberry and lavender together in a tea before… but, here, in this cup… it’s divine!  The fig is also there, it is somewhat softer than the other flavors, but definitely adds its own flair to the cup.  The black tea base is a very enjoyable, non-aggressive black tea, with a slight “baked bread” kind of quality to it that compliments the other flavors in this tea so well.   Delicious!

This is a tea that would be quite delicious served iced, but, I think I prefer it hot.  Because of the honey present in the blend, no sweetener is necessary with this tea – it has quite a lovely sweetness on its own.  However, I did try it with just a sprinkling (about 1/4 of a teaspoon) of raw sugar, and found that this encouraged some of the softer flavors to reveal themselves – especially that of the fig.

A very bright, flavorful tea that would be enjoyable any time of day – another winner from Dammann Frères!
